All prices are per user per month, and the last column is simple arithmetic: twelve months at the monthly price minus twelve months at the annual price. On Basic that is $96.00 against $80.04.

Time Doctor says annual billing includes two free months. Two months out of twelve is 16.7%, and the real discounts land at 16.6% on Basic and Standard and 16.5% on Premium, so the claim holds up.

Notice what is missing from the table? A free plan. We will come back to that, because it changes how you should run your trial.

Why does every step up cost about $5 more?

Because Time Doctor prices in even steps: $5.00 from Basic to Standard and $5.03 from Standard to Premium on annual billing, and $6.00 for each step on monthly billing.

That makes the buying question simple. The price is not the problem. The problem is whether the extra $5 a month buys something your team will open. Moving 20 people from Basic to Standard adds 20 x $5.00 x 12 = $1,200 a year. Moving the same 20 from Standard to Premium adds 20 x $5.03 x 12 = $1,207.20.

Would you pay $1,200 a year to get payroll and leave tracking inside the tracker? If your payroll already runs somewhere else and works fine, the honest answer is probably no.

What do you get on each Time Doctor plan?

Each tier includes everything in the one below it, so read the lists as additions.

Basic, $6.67 annually

Standard, $11.67 annually

Premium, $16.70 annually

Enterprise, custom

Historical tracking data also grows with the plan: 3 months on Basic, 6 months on Standard and 2 years on Premium and Enterprise. If you need to look back over a full year for audits or billing disputes, Basic and Standard will not get you there.

Most small teams land on Basic or Standard. Premium reads like a plan for larger or client facing operations, and Enterprise is for organizations that need their own cloud setup.

What do the add ons cost, and when is Premium cheaper?

Add ons run from $2 to $3 per user per month for reports and recording, and $200 per account or integration per month for SSO and the native integrations, so a loaded Standard plan can cost more than Premium.

Time Doctor sells these extras to Basic and Standard teams. The page shows one price for each, so the figures below treat it as the monthly rate whichever way you pay.

Prices in the Price column are per month. Per user items multiply by your seat count, and per account or per integration items do not.

Here is the part worth checking before you buy. Premium costs $5.03 more than Standard per user per month on annual billing. Standard plus Video Screen Recording and Unusual Activity Reporting is $11.67 + $3 + $3 = $17.67, which is $0.97 more than Premium at $16.70. So any two of the $3 add ons on Standard already cost more than Premium, and you would still miss the executive dashboard, the client login and the two year history.

Illustrative example: 20 seats on Standard with those two add ons cost 20 x $17.67 x 12 = $4,240.80 a year, while 20 seats on Premium cost 20 x $16.70 x 12 = $4,008.00. The gap is $232.80 a year in favor of Premium.

SSO works differently because it is priced per account. Is $200 a month cheaper than the step up to Premium? That depends on your headcount.

50

$2,400.00

SSO add on

Illustrative example: the step cost is seats x $5.03 x 12 and the add on is $200 x 12 = $2,400.00. Up to 39 seats, Premium costs less than buying only SSO on Standard. From 40 seats, the add on is cheaper if SSO is the only Premium feature you need. On Basic the crossover comes earlier, because Premium costs $10.03 more per seat, so it flips at 20 seats.

What will 10, 25 and 50 seats cost in a year?

On annual billing, 10 seats cost $800.40 on Basic and $2,004.00 on Premium, and 50 seats cost $4,002.00 and $10,020.00.

Illustrative example: the formula is seats x annual price x 12, and the seat counts are chosen for the math.

$3,501.00

$5,010.00

50

$4,002.00

$7,002.00

$10,020.00

At 50 seats the gap between Standard and Premium is $3,018.00 a year. Before you sign for Premium, write down which one feature justifies that number. If you cannot name it, you have your answer.

Is annual billing worth it?

Yes if you are confident the team will still be tracking in twelve months, because it saves $15.96 per Basic seat and $39.60 per Premium seat.

For 10 Basic seats that is $159.60 a year, and for 10 Premium seats it is $396.00. This post does not cover refund or cancellation terms, so confirm those with Time Doctor before you pay for a year in one go. If you are still deciding between tools, start monthly and switch once you are sure.

Where does Time Doctor pricing get expensive?

In four places: the feature gates, the add ons, the missing free plan and the Enterprise tier that has no public price.

The gates come first. Payroll, attendance and leave tracking need Standard, which costs about 75% more than Basic ($11.67 against $6.67). The add ons come second. Video recording, the AI reports and SSO are sold separately on Basic and Standard, so the sticker price is not always the final price. Payroll and HRIS native integrations cost $200 per integration per month on every plan below Enterprise, which is $2,400 a year each.

Then there is the trial. Time Doctor offers a 14 day trial where you can try every feature without a credit card, and the pricing page shows no free plan. Fourteen days is enough to set the tool up, but is it enough to learn how your team reacts to screenshots? Many teams need a few weeks of real work to find out. If that is you, our guide to manual versus automatic time tracking will help you decide how much monitoring you want before you pay.

Finally, Enterprise has no listed price, so budget for a sales conversation if you need private cloud hosting, custom BI dashboards or custom development.

How does Time Doctor compare with Clockify, Hubstaff and WorkSnaply?

Time Doctor is not the cheapest way to start, but its lowest paid plan already includes monitoring, and that changes the comparison.

Disclosure: we build WorkSnaply, so read our row with that in mind. Every price comes from the vendor pages listed in the Fact Check table.

Three things stand out. On annual billing, Time Doctor Basic is $1.32 cheaper than Clockify Pro, so for monitoring it undercuts Clockify. WorkSnaply Professional is $0.28 cheaper than Time Doctor Basic on annual billing and includes screenshots and activity monitoring. And if payroll is your reason to buy, Time Doctor Standard at $11.67 is cheaper than WorkSnaply Enterprise at $15.19, and Hubstaff Team at $10.00 is cheaper still.

A price table only goes so far, so we wrote separate breakdowns of Clockify pricing by plan and Hubstaff pricing by seat. You can also see WorkSnaply pricing on one page.

Who should pay for Time Doctor, and who should not?

Pay for it if you want monitoring, attendance and payroll in one tool, and skip it if all you need is hours logged.
